What Are Brad and John talking about?

Brad has an encyclopedic knowledge of radio show terms, and John – as a former “comms” guy for a Fortune 100 company – knows a lot of corporate-speak. Here’s a glossary of Frequently Heard Terms (or as John would say “F-H-T”) and their definitions.

AMF – A Brad favorite, and a tribute to the great Neal Boortz. What Urban Dictionary Says

Beta Orbiter – How John describes a bar patron that the bar owners love. What Urban Dictionary Says. (John’s note: what Rollo Tomassi says.)

BFT – Boomer Facebook Telephone, a communication network favored by Brad in which geriatrics relay “news” found on Facebook. Example: In October 2025, Brad said an ex-state rep’s mom said St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann said on Mike Carter’s “Justice for Journalism” show that Ehlmann was running for re-election (spoiler: Carter confirmed to John the “announcement” didn’t happen.)

DTMTOTS – “We’ve discussed this many times on this show.” Pronounced “deetem-tots,” the acronym is used preemptively by John in response to Brad’s most frequent tropes and dead horses. Brad: “Did I ever tell you about …” John: “Yes, DTMTOTS.”

Emotional tampon (added by John): A mating strategy in which a simp uses his emotional availability to build intimacy with a desirable female. The simp hopes that being “a shoulder to cry on” will eventually pay off with a physical reward; in reality, the woman will continue seeking real men as partners instead of the cuck.

Glee – YouTube-friendly substitute for “gay.” E.g., “Middle-aged men posting shirtless selfies is kind of glee.”

JAMFOB = John Always Makes Fun Of Brad

Meat Shield – A device used by vegans when they’re forced to join family members for a meal at a steak house. What Urban Dictionary Says. (John’s note: Derived from video game culture, a meat shield is a significant other and/or family member used by weak men as a human (“meat”) excuse to not take action. E.g., “Jeff isn’t coming to the Cardinals game because he says his girlfriend doesn’t like him watching baseball. She’s always his meat shield.”)

Monkey Branching – How a monkey doesn’t let go of the old branch until he/she has their hand on the next branch. What Urban Dictionary Says. (John’s note: what Rollo Tomassi says.)
